Early reviews for ‘After a Time’

Feb 08 2017

Some early reviews have come in for After a Time. Rolling Stone has given the record  four stars and described it as “a meandering stream of textures that conjure their own world of dappled light and boundless hope.” The Music calls it “simple and gorgeous”, also with four stars. And the Brag says, “Even though After A Time has much more of a full-band energy than Throsby’s previous releases Team and A Loud Call, there’s a peacefulness to this album. It feels raw, honest and is easy to get lost in… Some critics have been calling this Throsby’s strongest album yet, and they might just be right”. Thanks guys!

The album is released on February 17 (on vinyl, CD and digital in Australia; and digital-only for the rest of the world). If you preorder it now from JB Hi-Fi, you’ll get a bonus signed bookmark! Why not involve yourself in this adorably ’90s promotional offer.

The video for ‘Aeroplane’ has just premiered at The Music. You can watch it here. It was directed by Yanni Kronenberg and filmed by Yanni Kronenberg & Josh Heath. I reckon it’s pretty special.

What an honour that Goodwood has been shortlisted for an Indie Book Award in the Debut Fiction category, as voted by Australian Independent Booksellers. And in such fine company! The full list of nominees is here. Winners are announced on March 20th.

The second single from my new record is called ‘Aeroplane’ and it has just premiered here at Music Feeds. The song was recorded & mixed by Tim Kevin and he played some guitar on it. Mick Turner also played some guitar. Bree van Reyk played the drums; Joseph Leonard played the bass; and Marcus Whale played the saxophone. I hope you like it.

You can now pre-order the whole album, After a Time, here. It comes out Feb 17 via Spunk Records.

goodwood on the lists

Dec 14 2016

It is a great honour for me that Goodwood has been longlisted for an Indie Book Award (in the Debut Fiction category). The Indies are voted by Australian Independent Booksellers, and they sure do know a lot about books.

Goodwood has also been showing up on bunch of ‘Best Books of the Year’ lists. It came in at #7 on ABC’s The Book Club’s top ten (as voted by viewers). It features in the staff picks from Kill Your Darlings, the staff picks from Melbourne Writers Festival, the Bookseller’s forum picks on ABC 702, and is #3 on the Dymocks’ list of Best Books of 2016 (as voted by Dymocks staff). And now you well may be think to yourself: what a great Christmas gift idea.
