SEE! returns to arts centre melbourne

Dec 12 2012

Hello to all the children & families of Melbourne. Since we had such fun playing the songs from See! at the Melbourne Arts Centre earlier this year, we’re going back next March to do it all again. The Hello Tigers & I will play two shows on March 17 (11am & 12.30pm) in The Famous Spiegeltent. Tickets are on sale now! More details are here.

A few months back I went to Melbourne & sang on the new record by TZU. The album is called Millions Of Moments. I sing on a song called ‘Breakthrough’. Those boys are real clever.

We sure did have fun playing all those shows this past while. But I am taking a good break now, to write some new songs. Thanks to all who attended, young & old. See you after.

THE AWESOME INTERNATIONAL ARTS FEstival for bright young things

Aug 29 2012

Hello awesome children and families of Perth! I’m very happy to’ve been invited to play the songs from my children’s album, See!, at The Awesome International Arts Festival For Bright Young Things, which is happening in October. I said yes, based mainly on the name. It should be awesome. More information can be found on the shows page. I look forward to spending my spare time by the Indian Ocean, into which the sun shall set.

There is an excellent new kid’s festival happening in Marrickville in September, at Addison Road Centre, which is one of my favourite community spaces. It’s on September 1st, the first day of spring, and it’s called Dress Up Attack! I will be playing with my band, The Hello Tigers. Also on the bill is Spod, Spurs For Jesus, Teddy Rock, Jimmy Giggle and more. There will also be workshops and a jumping castle and reasonably-priced food, and stuff like that. Dressing up on the day is encouraged, but not required, especially for people who are introverted and feel uncomfortable about that kind of thing. Just come as you feel.

Having never really considered myself a poet as such, I was real chuffed to be invited to perform at this year’s Queensland Poetry Festival. So, I accepted their invitation, and will be playing a solo set at Tongues Of Flame, the opening night of the festival, which takes place at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts on August 24. You can find more information are on the shows page.

It is so nice to be in the botanic gardens. Especially in Cairns. They have a whole greenhouse of orchids, which remind me of Meryl Streep. Anyway, I am heading up north there in August, thanks to the good people at Tanks Arts Centre. My good pal & fellow Seeker Lover Keeper bandmate, Sarah Blasko (who has just finished recording her new album!), is headlining the event, which is called Musica Botanica. I will be playing right before her, doing a solo set with my guitar and keyboard. Details are here.
