UK & European TOUR with tiny ruins & jordan irelandJan 05 2012
Greetings to those of you in the UK & Europe. I am pleased to announce that I am coming over to your shores in February with two other antipodean friends from the Spunk Records family. Me, Tiny Ruins, and Jordan Ireland (formerly of The Middle East) will be playing 10 shows, to warm your heart a bit in the depths of winter. Don’t worry, we have lined coats. I will be bringing the always excellent Bree van Reyk, who will accompany me on drums & other instruments. Dates and ticketing information are on the shows page.

Our 11am See! show at Melbourne Arts Centre next March has sold out, lightening quick, so we have decided to play another show on the same day – Sunday, March 11 – at 12:30pm, so more kids can come along. We have also decided to play an extra show that evening too, at 5:30pm, for grown up people who like albums such as Team or On Night, for example. So if you are a child, or a grown up, and would like more information, you can visit here and be hopefully you will be satisfied.

For kids & families living in the fine city of Melbourne, I am pleased to announce that me and my band, The Hello Tigers, will be presenting See! as a live show next March at the Famous Spiegeltent, which will be parked outside the Melbourne Arts Centre. Tickets are on sale now & selling quick so best get to it. More information can be found here.
Thanks to everyone who came along to our Seeker Lover Keeper shows in the past couple of weeks, and to Bree van Reyk and Dave Symes for being our excellent rhythm section. We had a great time singing in all those churches and cathedrals. For those of you in America, the UK & Europe, our album will be released on your shores shortly, so keep an ear out.
THEY WILL HAVE THEIR WAYNov 09 2011
Here is a photo from the They Will Have Their Way show, last weekend at the Palais in Melbourne. Pictured, left to right, is Alexander Gow, me, Sally Seltmann, Sarah Blasko, Paul Dempsey, Clare Bowditch and Lior. You can see some members of our excellent band in the background, who really deserve to be in the frontground, due to their excellence. This weekend we play the songs of Tim & Neil Finn in Adelaide & Perth, then three shows at the Sydney Opera House next week. Tickets for some shows are still available, more details are on the shows page.
‘See!’ for Sydney FestivalNov 02 2011
The Hello Tigers and I are very excited to be presenting my children’s album, See!, as a live show for Sydney Festival – for the First Night events in Hyde Park and Parramatta, and four up-close shows in The Famous Spiegeltent. This will be our first ever live performance of the album, and we plan on making it quite ridiculous and very special. On stage I will be accompanied by Bree van Reyk on drums, percussion and sound effects; Jens Birchall on double bass, mandolin and cello; and our pal Nick Wales (Coda, Sarah Blasko) on viola and other hee-haw strings. We shall sing of motorboats, diamonds, spacemen, fish and mice. More information can be found here and on the shows page. These events are specifically suited for children, their families, and the young at heart.
ARIA NOMINATIONSOct 12 2011
I woke up to the exciting news that See! has been nominated for Best Children’s Album in this year’s ARIA Awards. It’s nominated alongside a stalwart from my own childhood, Play School, and the coloured-clothed men who have won many a child’s heart in recent years, The Wiggles. I remember one time when I was five, I got into an elevator with my mum and Benita was in there. I almost wet myself. Today feels a little bit like that day.
In other exciting news, Seeker Lover Keeper has been nominated for Best Adult Alternative album, a category with an unfortunate title, but we are in good company alongside Grinderman, The Panics, Boy & Bear and Little Red. Given the disparity between these nominations I’m not sure what to wear today, but I think overalls are a good middle ground.
seeker lover keeper – heavenly sounds tourSep 19 2011
Sarah, Sally & I are very happy to announce that we’ll be doing one last Seeker Lover Keeper tour before we go into the hibernation that comes with our various new solo projects. We will be visiting most capital cities, starting November 21, and this time every show will be in a beautiful church or cathedral. David Symes will be returning on bass and Bree van Reyk (of the Hello Tigers) will be on the drums. Tickets go on sale next Tuesday, and more information is available here.
bandcampSep 08 2011
If you would like to listen to some songs, there are now selections from all my albums at bandcamp. I’m really into bandcamp. It’s attractive and clean. Plus they don’t bombard you with ads or spam. Sometimes the best way to the future is via the past. Anyway, also relevant to the topic of ‘online streaming’, I officially closed my myspace page yesterday, in favour of my new friend, bandcamp. I’d forgotten I had a myspace page but, once I remembered, I could not bear to look at its difficult interface for a second longer. The human impulse towards spring cleaning is more than just a spoke in our seasonal cycle.
