MUSIC WORKSHOPMar 11 2013
I’m going to be talking about the practical side of being a musician at the upcoming installment of the workshop series, I Manage My Music. This one will be in Sydney, at UTS, on April 6. My old primary school buddy, Josh Pyke, will be talking too. It’s quite hard making a living as a musician. You have to write songs, record them, and tour them for ages. And there are serious overheads -like paying heaps of people, and keeping oneself awash with beer and overpriced illicit drugs. So if you’re interested in a How-To for balancing your musical chequebook and conquering the world, I hope I can steer you in the direction of someone who has the answer. ROFLz! No, seriously, it’s going to be readily informative.

THE AWESOME INTERNATIONAL ARTS FEstival for bright young thingsAug 29 2012
Hello awesome children and families of Perth! I’m very happy to’ve been invited to play the songs from my children’s album, See!, at The Awesome International Arts Festival For Bright Young Things, which is happening in October. I said yes, based mainly on the name. It should be awesome. More information can be found on the shows page. I look forward to spending my spare time by the Indian Ocean, into which the sun shall set.
DRESS UP ATTACK!Jul 20 2012
There is an excellent new kid’s festival happening in Marrickville in September, at Addison Road Centre, which is one of my favourite community spaces. It’s on September 1st, the first day of spring, and it’s called Dress Up Attack! I will be playing with my band, The Hello Tigers. Also on the bill is Spod, Spurs For Jesus, Teddy Rock, Jimmy Giggle and more. There will also be workshops and a jumping castle and reasonably-priced food, and stuff like that. Dressing up on the day is encouraged, but not required, especially for people who are introverted and feel uncomfortable about that kind of thing. Just come as you feel.
QUEENSLAND POETRY FESTIVALJul 18 2012
Having never really considered myself a poet as such, I was real chuffed to be invited to perform at this year’s Queensland Poetry Festival. So, I accepted their invitation, and will be playing a solo set at Tongues Of Flame, the opening night of the festival, which takes place at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts on August 24. You can find more information are on the shows page.
